Urgency call on Miniburns Road Works

Published: 12 August, 2008

Sinn Féin West Tyrone councillor Frankie Donnelly has called upon road service to undertake vital road works on the Minburns road as a matter of urgency. Councillor Donnelly said that urgent action must be taken at the Miniburns junction of the Omagh, Dromore, Drumquin and Lack roads if serious traffic accidents are to be averted.

According to Councillor Donnelly Roads Service have given a commitment that improvements on the junction will take place however the councillor said he is frustrated by the delays in commencement of work.

Councillor Donnelly said

"The work that remains to be carried out is not major work. It is minor but will bring huge safety benefits to motorists using the road when the work is completed. This particular junction at the Miniburns road has a history of serious road traffic collisions causing death and serious injuries. I feel that an improvement of sightlines, minor realignment and resurfacing work of the road would help avert further serious road traffic collusions in the future. In the coming days I will be lobbying Roads Service in an effort to get them to carry out the necessary work at this junction.ENDS
