Sinn Fein hits out at graffiti attack at home of young Strabane family

Published: 11 August, 2008

Strabane Sinn Fein Cllr Michaela Boyle has registered her disgust at an incident over the weekend in which graffiti was scrawled over a home in Castlegrange Park in the town in which a couple and their four young children live.

She said,

"This happened in the early hours of Saturday morning and I when I visited the young family that were targeted in this disgusting attack they were obviously deeply distressed about what had happened.

"While some of the graffiti was of a political and sectarian nature it has now been clearly established that there was no political involvement whatsoever in this incident. Whoever did this represents no one but themselves, and their own twisted mindset, and should desist from any repeated attempts at this sick activity.

"Previously, property was stolen from this family and in another incident a fence at their home was broken but it is unclear as to whether there is any link between these incidents and what happened at the weekend or whether the same individual/individuals are involved.

"I would appeal to whoever carried out this weekend attack to realise the anguish and hurt their actions have caused. This young family just want to be left in peace. ENDs
