Sinn Féin Cllr Stephen McCann says that Council's commitment to invest in developing the facilities and capacity of the community sector throughout Fermanagh and Omagh District is further evidenced in the allocation of £657,000 in Capital Grant Aid over the next two years.

Speaking following the February meeting of Council's Regeneration & Community Committee at which the decision to grant funding of up to £20,000 was made to a wide diversity of: community development; sport; arts and culture and social economy groups throughout the District Cllr Mc Cann said,

"This sector forms the backbone and life-blood of our local communities and the work and activities they undertake are fundamental to enriching the quality of life of people in our communities.

"It is therefore crucial we as Council continue to support and invest in the development of the facilities which in turn helps increase the capacity of these groups given the indispensable role they play.

"I believe that the Capital Grant Aid allocation of £657,000 that we have made to local groups further evidences Councils commitment towards further strengthening the social fabric of our communities.
