West Tyrone MLA Declan Mc Aleer has welcomed a commitment from TransportNI to carry out a traffic survey in Plumbridge. He was speaking after arranging a site meeting with an official from TransportNI to draw attention to issues in the area.
Mr Mc Aleer said "I have been contacted by residents and road users who are concerned at the speed of cars, particularly in the vicinity of the health centre on Ligford road.
"This is a straight stretch of road and many drivers entering the village do not slow up until they reach the corner at Campbell Terrace.
"The official in attendance noted these concerns and has undertaken to carry out a traffic survey in the near future.
"During the site meeting I also added my support to local calls for a footpath from Fairview and Gleneden View into the village. There are a lot of young people who walk this route each day to catch their school bus, go to the shop or football field.
"It is extremely dangerous and I asked TransportNI to prioritize this scheme in their next round of local safety measures"
