Council investment will see new public toilet block for Fintona

Sinn Féin Councillor Stephen Mc Cann says the decision by Council to demolish the old toilet block on Fintona's Main Street and replace it, on the existing site, with a new 'stone clad' building will be very much welcomed by the residents of Fintona.
The decision was arrived at a meeting of the Environmental Services Committee the local Council last night and following the meeting Cllr Stephen Mc Cann, who Chairs the Committee, said,
"I had been lobbied on an ongoing basis that the public conveniences in Fintona, at their current location, be made fit for purpose and that the unsightly and unviable ''Superloo'' be removed.
"The decision we have now taken to demolish old toilet block on Fintona's Main Street and to construct a new, stone clad building will be very much welcomed by Fintona residents.
"The retention of toilet facilities at their current location follows on from a public consultation event at which this view was expressed by the majority in attendance.
"Concerns had been raised by residents that any attempt to move the public conveniences from their current location into an unlit, off street car park may attract anti-social behaviour and vandalism.
"This decision represents a significant investment by Council facilities in Fintona town and this new building, when completed, will complement the surrounding area.
