Proposal for Late Night Toilets in Omagh

Published: 12 April, 2016

Sinn Féin Omagh Town councillor Marty McColgan has asked officials from Fermanagh and Omagh council to find a suitable site in Omagh town centre for public toilets which can be used by late night revellers during the weekend period. Councillor McColgan made the proposal at the monthly meeting of the Environmental Service committee.

Speaking on his proposal councillor McColgan said:

"The issue of lack of public toilets for Omagh town centre during late night hours, particularly at the weekend is one that has been raised with me personally on many occasions. I therefore asked officials from the local council to assess this option with a view to identifying a suitable site in Omagh town centre which would be available for public toilets to use late at night.

"Omagh has established itself as a regional attraction for people from outside the area who come to sample the night-time economy. Therefore I believe to compliment those who come to contribute to the local economy the onus is on the council to provide such facilities. It is something which is badly needed and would be welcomed by those who socialise during the weekend in Omagh Town Centre.
