West Tyrone Sinn Féin -- Building an Ireland of Equals

Time running out for Boiler Replacement applications.

Published: 8 February, 2015

Sinn Féin west Tyrone Councillor Stephen McCann has called on local people to avail of the Boiler Replacement Allowance before the scheme ends on 31st March.

Explaining councillor McCann said:

"The scheme has proven to be very successful to date with over 14,500 households availing of the grant to replace old and inefficient boilers. It also covers the cost of converting from oil to either gas or wood pellet burner. Up to £1,000 is payable, depending on individual circumstances. It is administered by the Housing Executive, on behalf of the Department of Social Development.

"I would call upon local people to first of all check if they are eligible for this grant and, if so, to apply for this worthwhile scheme. Those who avail of this scheme can see reduced energy bills and ensure that the boiler is maintained to an appropriate standard. As the deadline is fast approached I would call upon those eligible to apply in well in advance of the expiry date of 31st March.

To qualify you need to be an owner occupier with total income less than £40,000 and with a boiler aged 15 years or older.
