Bus shelter required for Holy Cross pupils- Cllr R Mc Hugh
Published: 24 November, 2014
Castlederg Sinn Féin Councillor Ruairí Mc Hugh has highlighted the need for bus shelter provision for those children travelling to Holy Cross school in Strabane from the Castlederg area. Raising the issue at a recent Council meeting Councillor Ruairí Mc Hugh said
" Because of safety concerns around the volume of traffic dropping students off at the normal bus shelter on John Street and also at Kyle's shop at the Diamond, the WELB bus has opted to collect and drop children off at Priest's lane in the town. While I recognise the WELB's concern for the safety of these students the fact is that these pupils are now being forced to wait for their bus without any shelter from inclement harsh weather.
" As a matter of urgency I am asking that our Technical Services officer arrange a site meeting at Priest's lane in the town with representatives from WELB and Council to discuss this issue and identify a suitable location on Priest's Lane for a bus shelter so that Holy Cross pupils be afforded the same protection from inclement weather as other pupils travelling elsewhere''
