Published: 4 November, 2014

Derg Sinn Féin councillor Maolíosa McHugh has welcomed the removal of a dangerous tree which was situated in Castletown Court, Strabane.

Councillor McHugh has been contacted by a number of residents from the park in recent times regarding a large tree which was in a dangerous condition after being set on fire.

Speaking this week Cllr McHugh said,

"Residents of Castletown Court have been in touch with me recently requesting the removal of a tree which had been vandalised. They had serious concerns that in the case of high winds or bad weather, if the tree was to fall it could put property or even lives at risk. Through council I contacted the owners and made them aware of the adherent risks. Thankfully the issue was dealt with this week in a very prompt and responsible way. The residents of Castletown Court are more than pleased with the outcome."
