Councillor Anne Marie Fitzgerald has commended DRD Roads Service for including the Ballinamullan Bridge on the Farmhill Road on a major repair scheme for the year 2014/2015.

Conor Loughrey, Divisional Road Manager made the announcement at a meeting in Omagh council chamber on Thursday evening. He revealed that the Bridge Management Section are to carry out work to structures in the Omagh area including the Ballinamullan Bridge.

Speaking on the announcement local Sinn Féin councillor for the area Anne Marie Fitzgerald said:

"This represents an investment of £450k in the local infrastructure, which is welcomed. The Ballinamullan Bridge carries a large volume of traffic daily and this has become more prevalent in recent years with the success of the local gaelscoil, the Killyclogher GAA club and the Dún Uladh centre.

"Listed as a 'bridge extension' it is my understanding that the bridge will be widened, increasing its safety and ensuring it remains fit for purpose. This is welcome news not only for local road users, pedestrians and residents but it also brings in much needed work to the area."
