Sinn Féin meet InvestNI on Strabane Business Park

Published: 27 May, 2014

Sinn Féin MLA Michaela Boyle and Pat Doherty MP met this week with the Chief Executive of Invest NI in order to obtain an update on the current status of the Strabane business park which still remains empty.

Speaking after the meeting Michaela Boyle said,

From 2006, Sinn Féin have spearheaded a campaign to redress the shortage of available industrial land in Strabane and the development of the 40 acre Business Park was the outcome with 19 acres of serviced sites for inward investment/business expansion projects. The park opened over a year ago and we have yet to see any benefit as it still remains empty.

Alistair Hamilton has informed us that the 7 businesses which expressed an interest in the park are still interested. He has confirmed that this will be a slow process however he is hopeful that it will all come to fruition very shortly.

Sinn Féin will continue to keep this on the agenda as this site is vital in securing inward investment, business expansion and most crucially the creation of new jobs.

On June 3rd I have secured an adjournment debate in the assembly on the topic of the Business park and job creation in the Strabane district which will give me an opportunity to press the DETI minister further on this issue also."
