Investment in school estate welcomed

Sinn Féin has welcomed the £18m investment in the school estate announced by Education Minister John O'Dowd including a number of local schools in Omagh District.
Councillor Marty McColgan said,
"It is important that our children have modern facilities in which they can learn and fulfil their potential so this latest announcement by the Minister on improvement schemes to the school estate is welcomed.
"In total over £18million will be spent across 119 projects that will improve the teaching surrounding for pupils and staff alike. This includes in Omagh, £177,000 for Saint Conor's PS and £4,989 for Loreto Grammar.
"Not only will the minor works scheme enhance the school estate but it will provide work to the under pressure building sector right across the North.
Councillor Sean Clarke said,
"This is the latest investment highlighting Sinn Fein's commitment in putting money into the school estate and coming on the back of the £134m School enhance Programme announced in March. The current investment also includes £119,500 for Saint Patrick's PS in Gortin.
"Sinn Fein is determined to ensure that every child has a modern and warm environment in which they can learn and the Minister's strategy of improving the school estate is delivering just that."
