Published: 7 May, 2014

Omagh District Council Chairperson Marty McColgan has congratulated Strathroy Harps on their amazing run of success and will host a civic reception to honour their achievements.

Cllr McColgan said,

"As Chair of Omagh District Council and as a proud Strathroy man I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Strathroy Harps on their incredible achievement over the past number of years.

"Founded in 2002 The Harps have enjoyed much success in both the Fermanagh and Western and Fermanagh and Western Reserve leagues and have established themselves as a formidable force in local football.

"This year the club have been crowned League champions of both the First and Reserve First divisions of the Fermanagh and Western, and also Rehill Cup Champions. This success follows hot on the heels of back to back Irish Junior Cups and has certainly secured the Harps their place in the history of Irish Junior football.

"As a team Strathroy Harps have wide appeal and have attracted players and galvanised support from throughout Omagh Town and their recent success has created a self belief and feel good factor that has been widely celebrated over the past few days throughout the town and nowhere more so than in Strathroy itself.

"I congratulate everyone connected with the Harps and I am delighted to have the opportunity to honour them with a civic reception in the next few weeks. STID."
