Trillick Decorative Street Lighting must be retained

Published: 7 March, 2014

West Tyrone Sinn Féin Representative Stephen McCann has demanded that the decorative street lighting in Trillick is retained following the replacing of a number of them with second hand plain street lights during maintenance work.

Mr McCann said,

"The decorative street lighting has been a feature of Trillick over the past two decades, boosting the image of the village, and creating a sense of local pride. They were initially installed through the CRISP scheme. The recent removal of a number of these street lights during maintenance and replacement with second hand lamp-posts isn't acceptable. I have been contacted by the local community association and residents expressing their concern and demanding they are retained."

"I have contacted the DRD's head of street lighting to express the resident's concerns. He explained that any future repair work will be in line with the current decorative street lights, I also pressed him on the need to restore the ones which have already been replaced. I will continue to represent the resident's concern until this matter is resolved."
