Drumquin to get Outdoor Gym

Published: 6 March, 2014

Drumquin is to get a new Outdoor Gym, West Tyrone Sinn Fein Cllr Frankie Donnelly has announced. The project will be developed in the area following a decision of Omagh District Council to work along with local people to provide the new community Gym.

The new community facility will also be a regeneration scheme for a neglected part of the village by bringing back into use derelict ground on the Main St/Manse Rd corner that has deteriorated over the years.

Councillor Donnelly said,

"New roadways have been constructed and this will give the Village a bright facelift, and the community will also have a state of the art modern fitness facility, to suit a variety of abilities and ages.

"I have been working with Council officers and local people since 2011 to bring this to fruition, there is massive interest in health, illness prevention and fitness activity in the area."

"I am delighted that individuals, families, Fitness Groups and Sports Clubs in Drumquin will have the opportunity to benefit from having a Gym in this community, I am working with other rural areas who also have this type of provision as a priority and am hopeful that they too can be progressed in the coming months"
