Road Safety Concerns Addressed by Loughmacrory Play Park Gate

Published: 24 February, 2014

Mid Tyrone Sinn Féin Councillor Anne Marie Fitzgerald has thanked Omagh District Council for confirming the installation of a gate at the entrance to Loughmacrory Play Park in the coming weeks.

Councillor Fitzgerald said,

"Following contact from a number of concerned parents in Loughmacrory highlighting there was no gate on the local play park, I have worked with the council to ensure a speedy resolution to this road safety issue."

"The play park is adjacent to the Ballybrack road and there was a genuine fear from parents that without a gate, a child could wander onto the path of oncoming traffic. I am delighted that Kevin O'Gara, head of the Council's Technical Services has confirmed that a gate will be installed as a matter of urgency in the coming weeks. This simple yet effective safety measure will give the parents peace of mind, keep the children safe and avoid any unnecessary accidents and tragedy in our community."
