Donnelly welcomes £170,000 improvements for Sixmilecross to Carrickmore Road

Sinn Féin councillor Sean Donnelly has welcomed an announcement by Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy which will see a £170,000 major improvement and resurfacing scheme on the Tiroony Road, between Sixmilecross and Carrickmore. The work is scheduled to begin on Monday 6 January 2014.

The resurfacing work on two sections of the road between Sixmilecross and Carrickmore is expected to be completed by 17 January 2014.

Welcoming the announcement was Mid Tyrone Sinn Féin Councillor Sean Donnelly who said:

"I very much welcome the announcement from the Minister that the Tiroony road is set to benefit from an investment of £170,000 on the road surface. It has been a road which has been of concern to local people for quite a period. Being the main link road between Sixmilecross and Carrickmore it carries a substantial level of daily traffic and I am glad that this investment is being made to improve the road and its surface.

"The work will commence very early in the New Year and will require the road being closed between 9am and 5pm for approximately two weeks, until the works are completed. However local residential traffic will not be affected throughout this period. Furthermore it is my understanding that for other traffic diversions will be in place for the period of two weeks. I want to welcome this development and no doubt local residents will join me in welcoming the road improvement scheme.
