Mc Aleer welcomes Primark decision to locate in Omagh

West Tyrone MLA Declan Mc Aleer has welcomed the news that Primark will soon be opening a store in Omagh. A planning application will be lodged on Monday morning for the town centre site after a deal between the owners of Supervalu (Omagh) and Primark was signed. According to Mr Mc Aleer 'This is great news for Omagh and will consolidate the existing jobs in Supervalu as well as creating additional jobs. It will also be a major boost for the construction industry as the plans involve a downstairs extension of the existing site for a refurbished Supervalu store and the creation of a 33,000 sq foot Primark store fronting on to Market Street. 'I had a meeting with the owners of Supervalu Omagh earlier this afternoon and they informed me that the plans and design have been finalised and that discussions have been ongoing with statutory consultees, as well as preliminary engagements with the Planning Service. 'Everyone I have spoken to is delighted with the news and the presence of a strong operator like Primark has the potential to draw in more footfall to the town centre, which will ultimately benefit all retail outlets.'
