Welcome for Omagh Jobs announcement
Published: 10 October, 2013
Sinn Féin West Tyrone MLA Declan McAleer has welcomed the creation of 260 local Jobs at Terex Finlay in Omagh. It is a part of a £21 million investment by the company locally.
Speaking on the announcement Declan McAleer MLA said:
"I welcome the announcement from Terex of their over £20 million investment locally. This will see the construction of new factory space, new equipment and also see an investment in research and development.
"As well as the obvious benefit of creating 260 new jobs this boost will see £5.5 million in wages and salaries paid out annually, which is great news for the local economy.
"Sinn Féin have been continuously pressing for Invest NI to step up to plate and assist new and established businesses west of the Bann in terms of Job Creation. I am therefore welcoming the fact that Invest NI has provided £2.6 million in order to make this announcement possible.
Also welcoming the announcement was local Sinn Féin Councillor Marty McColgan who said:
"There is no doubt that Engineering is a major part of our economy locally and there is a well established skills base here. This announcement by Terex together with the news of 40 new jobs yesterday by Telestack means the creation of 300 new jobs. This a good news story for the local area and a very welcome development in the present economic climate.
