Sinn Féin has announced details of a major seminar for local businesses and community organisations to help them maximise EU funding opportunities. The event takes place in the Mellon Country hotel on Tuesday 27th August and will be hosted by Martina Anderson MEP. According to West Tyrone MLA, Declan Mc Aleer 'A key objective of this seminar is to inform people of the different funding streams that are available for community projects and business development. There is a perception held by many that European funding begins and ends with PEACE but this is not the case, and Martina has lined up a number of key speakers who will give presentations on the various avenues that groups and businesses can go down to find new areas of funding. 'The speakers include Denis McMahon who is a senior official in OFMDFM, Colette Fitzgerald head of the European Commission office in Belfast and Richard Osterhus from Derry City Council's European funding unit. Mr Mc Aleer concluded 'We see this as an invaluable opportunity for SME's and voluntary organisations to be informed of possible future strands of funding and we extend an open invitation. The event will begin at 10.30am and will run until 12.30pm'.
