Sinn Féin Cllrs Kieran Mc Guire and Maoliosa Mc Hugh have welcomed the completion of extensive remedial repair works to the Fern Road between Castlederg and Clady following lobbying both DRD Road Service and Donegal County Council to undertake the work given that the road had fallen into a very bad state of repair.

Cllr Mc Guire said

"Along with Cllr Mc Hugh, I have been lobbying both Roads Service and Donegal County Council on an ongoing basis to make improvements to the roads along the Tyrone Donegal border. We have been pressing this issue with the roads authorities as it is a major issue of complaint from motorists from both sides of the border.

"Recently the state of the Fern Road from the Derg to Clady had become very bad with many large 'pot-holes'. This was posing a serious hazard to drivers using this road. Both I and Cllr Mc Hugh were constantly in contact with the relevant authorities to put pressure onto them to ensure this road was repaired and this has now been done.

"We would like to welcome that extensive remedial work has now been completed by both Donegal County Council and DRD Roads Service'
