Deadline approaching for community grant aid
Published: 21 September, 2012
Sinn Fein West Tyrone Councillor Ann Quinn has reminded local voluntary and community groups that Friday is the deadline for applications for the Councils capital aid and Community support grant aid.
Community Support Grant Aid assists groups by providing financial assistance for running costs such as electricity, heating, insurance, stationary and venue hire. Under the Capital works programme, groups can claim up to a maximum of £25,000 for the purchase of equipment or refurbishment of premises.
Speaking ahead of the deadline for applications Councillor Quinn said:
"This Friday (28th Sept) is the deadline for the submissions of applications by Community and Voluntary groups who wish to be considered for either Community Support or Capital Grant aids. This extends to groups wishing to apply for grants for Christmas celebrations and Christmas 'switch on' events.
"We in the Omagh District have a very strong and vibrant community sector in the area and as such I would urge such groups to apply for this funding made available from the council. The groups and organisations undertake sterling work year on year and are well deserving of any support we can provide to them.
"These funds demonstrate the commitment of the council of to support local voluntary and community groups, even in very difficult economic times.
"In particular i would like to welcome applications from groups how haven't applied for such funding in the past. We are always willing to help and assist new groups which seek our support through the grant aid scheme.
All completed applications must be submitted to the Council offices by 5pm on Friday 28th September.
