Councillor Ann Quinn has congratulated the local Dromore branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Éireann (CCE) after they were successful in their bid to host the Ulster Finals of the Fleadh Cheoil in 2013.

Speaking following the announcement councillor Quinn said:

"The news that Dromore is to host the Ulster Finals of the Fleadh Cheoil in 2013 is great news. A huge congratulations must be extended to the local branch of the Comhaltas whose hard work have paid off. They have contributed a great deal to the local community in Dromore over many years and have put Dromore on the map as a place of rich culture, heritage, music and traditions. So in keeping with that it is apt that Dromore are to host the Ulster Finals of the largest music festival in Ireland.

"Local people will no doubt open their doors and demonstrate great hospitality for this event. For my part I will be in contact with Omagh District Council to ensure that the appearance of the village is enhanced ahead of, and during the event.

"Of course the 2013 finals of the Fleadh will be held in Derry, for the first time, so the Ulster Finals of the Fleadh in Dromore will be a great prelude to the event in Derry. Hosting the Ulster finals will not only be a boost to the local economy and businesses but would also be an opportunity to showcase the rich cultural and heritage in County Tyrone.
