West Tyrone Sinn Féin -- Building an Ireland of Equals

Welcome for planned Tummery roadworks

Published: 26 July, 2012

Councillor Ann Quinn has welcomed confirmation that Tummery Road in Dromore is due to undergo remedial works after the Department of Regional Development was successful in bidding for additional funding. A previous decision on the works was delayed after funding constraints meant that it couldn't be undertaken. It has now been revealed that the scheme will be prioritised and will be entered into the contractors schedule.

Speaking following the development local Sinn Féin councillor for the area Ann Quinn welcomed the decision:

"I welcome the news that this road is to benefit for remedial works in the coming time. This road is affected particularly bad at times of adverse weather conditions with the road becoming a flooding risk. This has seen the surface and state of the road deteriorate quite considerably in recent times given the wet weather we have experienced over recent months. So this work will be broadly welcomed by people living locally.

"This stretch of road, which links links Dromore and Trillick has a large volume of daily traffic and with the news that this remedial road works scheme will be prioritised is welcome and one which will have dividends for people locally and will enhance driver safety on this particular stretch of road.
