Ógra Shinn Féin teamed up with PIPS (Public Initiative for the Prevention of Suicide) to deliver three suicide prevention training events across Tyrone in the past month. The most recent 'Mind Your Mate' training was organised in Omagh Sinn Féin Office last Friday (30th March).

Omagh town Sinn Féin Chairperson Martin McColgan who helped organise the event said,

"Suicide is the single biggest killer of our young people and on average two people take their own life every single day across Ireland. Everyone has a part to play in preventing suicide and local initiatives like the 'Mind Your Mate' training provided by PIPS equips young people with the confidence and skills to save a life. It also helps educate and de stigmatise suicide, so that more and more people are willing to speak up and reach out for help."

"Sinn Féin will be organising a number of other suicide prevention training events throughout the coming year and I would encourage anyone who is interested to come along and gain these vital lifesaving skills."
