Fitzgerald welcomes announcement of Hospital funding

Local Sinn Fein councillor Anne Marie Fitzgerald has give a guarded welcome to the announcement of £75 million of funding which will be made available for the first phase of construction on a new local hospital in Omagh. The announcement was made by Health Minister Edwin Poots.

Cllr Fitzgerald who sits on the joint liaison committee between the local council and the Western Health trust said:

"I am encouraged by Tuesdays announcement of £75 million is being made available for the first phase of construction on the new enhanced hospital in Omagh. I am anxious that the services currently in Omagh is maintained and developed upon in the new hospital.

"Given that the acquisition of land and enabling works has commenced I am looking forward to the commencement of the next phase of the project. The construction and operation of an enhanced Hospital in the Omagh area will ensure the local delivery of services in a modern state of the art facility.
