Community Call in Sixmilecross

Published: 26 July, 2011

Mid Tyrone Sinn Fein councillor Sean Donnelly is calling upon the local community in Sixmilecross to assist him in locating a site for a bottle bank in the village.

Councillor Donnelly said:

"I had been contacted by residents from Sixmilecross regarding the provision of a bottle bank in the area. I then made contact with the technical services department of Omagh District Council who has agreed in theory to place a bottle bank in Sixmilecross; unfortunately they have been unable to identify a suitable piece of land for the bottle bank. As a public representative for the area I am exploring the possibility of a local business, community group or individual hosting the bottle bank on their land. This would undoubtedly prove to be a huge asset for the local community.

"Ambitious recycling targets have been set against Omagh District Council, bottle banks are becoming an increasingly popular method of recycling and local people in Sixmilecross can play their part in achieving these targets.
