Mc Gill sees glimmer of hope on Learning Disability Payments

Sinn Fein West Tyrone MLA Claire Mc Gill says that she believes that a commitment from Health Minister Michael Mc Gimpsey that he will meet with the Chief Executive of Western Health Trust to discuss the decision by the body to end the 'basic financial reward scheme of around £2 per week for people with learning disabilities in the Western Board Area provides a glimmer of hope that some kind of arrangement can still be found to retain this weekly payment. The Quarry shovel which was used to attack Carrickmore Post Office.

Thieves have used a quarry shovel to steal a cash machine and partially demolish the Post Office in Carrickmore, Co Tyrone. Sinn Féin councillor Anne Marie Fitzgerald has condemned the 'ram raid' in the early hours of Tuesday morning, branding it "an attack on the entire community". Read full article

Huge turnout to commemorate the Drumnakilly Martyrs.

"A fitting tribute" and "the lads would be proud" were two of the most frequent comments made during the weekend of events to mark the 20th anniversary of Volunteers Brian Mullin, Gerard Harte and Martin Harte. The three IRA men were killed in a SAS ambush at Drumnakilly on Tuesday 30th August 1988. Read full article
