The Chairperson of Omagh District Council, Declan Mc Aleer was among the guests who welcomed Minister Arlene Foster to the official opening of the NIE Energy Contact Centre at Bankmore Business Park, Omagh. The centre currently employs 35 people and complements the other centres in Belfast and Ballymena.

Speaking at the launch, Cllr Mc Aleer said:

"The official opening of NIE Energy's new Contact Centre here in Omagh is an endorsement, not only of the quality of the workforce here, but also the strategic value of the town to the region. Omagh District Council has long been to the forefront of promoting the area as an ideal place for investment and I am delighted that NIE Energy has established its new centre here in Omagh to complement the other centres in Belfast and Ballymena.

"The company has a great reputation for customer service and I am confident that the addition of the contact centre here in Omagh can only enhance that reputation. Indeed evidence of this commitment to excellence in customer care, is borne out by the nomination of Kieragh Nelson, Head of Contact Centre Operations, NIE Energy for the Customer Contact Centre Association's Professional Manager of the Year award. I would like to take this opportunity, Kieragh, to congratulate you on your nomination and to wish you every success at the awards ceremony in the Hilton Hotel, Glasgow in November.

"NIE Energy, I understand, supplies electricity to almost 800,000 homes and businesses in the North and is the region's premier electricity supplier. With the emphasis on reducing carbon emissions, it also takes its responsibility to the environment very seriously with already over 20,000 homes being supplied with electricity through renewable energy sources. It also provides advice to customers to help them reduce their carbon footprint by becoming more energy efficient. There is a tangible benefit to the customer as increased energy efficiency leads to reduced bills.

"The company also provides pay-as-you-go energy through keypad metering which is proving to be extremely popular with significant discounts being made available to customers who use this technology. From these initiatives, it is clear that NIE Energy places its customers at the heart of its business.
On behalf of Omagh District Council, I would like to offer my best wishes to you on the opening of this excellent facility. I know it will be of tremendous benefit both to the Company and the consumer locally".
