Dromore Main Street In bad state of disrepair - Cllr QuinnPublished: 24 August, 2010
Sinn Fein west Tyrone councillor Ann Quinn has written to Roads Service highlighting her concerns regarding the poor state of the road surface on Dromore Main Street as well as Church street in the town. Councillor Quinn said that the surface of Dromore Main Street has been a source on consternation over the past number of months with craters and cracked surfaces clearly evident.
Councillor Quinn said she has highlighted these concerns to DRD Roads Service:
"The surface of Dromore Main Street has been a source of concern for local people for a number of months. The poor surface not only takes away from the image of the village but can also cause damage to cars.
"Since the bypass of the town was completed many years ago this has seen the vast majority of the traffic by passing by the town however the need remains to keep the Main Street as well as Church street up to standard for road users. A large number of local people and business still use these streets on their day to day business and as such they must be maintained to an adequate standard.
"I have written to DRD Roads Service outlining the concerns which have been brought to my attention by constituents in the area. I have asked that an assessment is carried out on Main Street as well as Church Street to determine the best way to go forward with the issue so that these streets are maintained to an appropriate standard.
