Sinn Féin Omagh town councillors Sean Begley and Martin McColgan have said there will be a meeting with representatives of NI Water in the Tamlaght road of Omagh to ally fears further disruption fears as work on the sewerage system continues in the area. The meeting is set to take place in St Connors primary school at 2pm on Monday afternoon.

Fears were raised by residents about the level of disruption in the area since the works commenced a number of months ago. Speaking Omagh Town councillor Sean Begley said:

"The residents knew that this work would cause an inconvenience for them and this is something that they were prepared to accept for the long term benefit. However since the works commenced the level of disruption has been above and beyond what was envisaged. Following representations made by myself and my party colleague Martin McColgan we had requested a meeting with NI Water to discuss the issue with local residents.

"NI Water has subsequently agreed to the meeting, therefore we are calling upon the local residents and businesses to attend this meeting to highlight any concerns they may have on the issue.

Supporting councillor Beleys remarks was Martin McColgan who added:

"Local consultation with the local community is the way forward and this has been recognised by NI Water. The progress with this project must be done in a way which accommodates both the contractors and residents alike and this meeting is about making sure this accommodation can be maintained in the time ahead.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at 2pm, in St. Connors Primary School on Monday.
