Sinn Féin West Tyrone MP MLA Pat Doherty has announced that the venue for the 2010 National Hunger Strike Commemoration will be the town of Bellaghy in South Derry on Sunday 15th August
Pat Doherty said
"The venue for 2010 National Hunger Strike Commemoration will be the town of Bellaghy on Sunday 15th August. .As it's being held in South Derry for the first time, I would encourage as many local people as possible to make the journey to Bellaghy and join with thousands of other people from all over Ireland and further afield to remember with pride the sacrifice of ten brave comrades who died in Long Kesh during those turbulent summer months of 1981.
"While 29 years have now passed since this pivotal period in the course of Irish history, the pride with which the H-Block Martyrs are remembered is ever enduring and I would urge republicans from throughout Tyrone to reflect this sense of pride by making a special effort to attend this major commemorative event.
"Sinn Féin is organising transport to the commemoration from Omagh and Strabane districts. Anyone wishing to book a seat or seeking additional details should contact the local Constituency Offices in Omagh (82253040) or Strabane (71886464).
