Campbell Commends Organisers of Tattyreagh 5 Mile Road RacePublished: 26 July, 2010
West Tyrone Sinn Féin representative, Glenn Campbell, has commended the organisers of the first Tattyreagh 5 Mile Road Race. Speaking after completing the race, Mr. Campbell said, "On Saturday I had the privilege of taking part in the inaugural Tattyreagh 5 mile road race. There was a huge turnout on the day in aid of the very worthy causes of Foyle Hospice and Tattyreagh Childrens Playpark. I want to take this opportunity to commend the organisers of this very successful event. "The race started and finished at the Tattyreagh GAC Clubrooms - a hive of activity in a strong rural community. I was greatly impressed by the degree of professionalism deployed by everyone in and around the Clubrooms and indeed those who marshalled or provided water along the route. Equally impressive was the wide range of people who took part - young and old and many families - a great display of community spirit. A lot of local people put themselves out to make the day a success and their efforts are to be highly commended. Impressed by the facilities at Tattyreagh GAC, Mr. Campbell concluded, "I was particularly struck by the development of Tattyreagh GAC and the immense voluntary effort of its members. Ireland's strength lies in the resourcefulness and generosity of its people. More than ever before, in these times of economic hardship, volunteering is to the fore in Irish society. Never was this more evident than in Tattyreagh on Saturday. Well done again to all concerned. " |
