Twelfth can't be used to disguise hooligan actions

Sinn Féin Councillor Brian Mc Mahon says that the community in the Carlton Drive area are angered at the hooligan actions of small number of young people in the area yesterday.

"Earlier yesterday, we had 3 Donegal bound buses full of passengers attacked with missiles on the bypass. At least one passenger was injured and other deeply traumatized. Later on missiles and paint bombs were thrown at the PSNI at the top of Carlton Drive , at least one car set on fire at the top of the estate. There was nothing political about yesterday's incidents it was just hooliganism.

"Local people area incensed that a small, and unrepresentative, group of young people attempted to use the cover of the 12th July as an excuse to engage in such reckless and destructive acts which put the lives of passing motorists, passengers and local people at risk.

"However, yesterday's actions by this small group are by no means isolated. Local people are sick to their teeth in having to put up other anti-social incidents on an all year round basis and want to be left in peace.
