Attacks on buses in Strabane roundly condemnedPublished: 12 July, 2010
Sinn Féin has described stone attacks on three Donegal bound buses on the Strabane by-pass earlier today as a sickening and deplorable act.
Sinn Féin Councillor Brian Mc Mahon says:
"I would like to take this opportunity to roundly condemn this sickening and deplorable attack on three bus loads of passengers, many of them young people, on the by-pass in Strabane earlier today.
"My understanding is that the buses were attacked with large stones and have been all badly damaged. While I have no reports, as of yet, of anyone being physically injured all the passengers have been left in a deeply traumatized state.
"There have been incidents such as this on the by-pass in previous years but I would view today's attack as one of the most serious and it is only through sheer luck that we are not facing a major tragedy today.
"The entire community in Strabane will be outraged at whoever was responsible for this attack today and the mentality of anyone would launch missiles at vehicles on an extremely busy stretch of road does not bear thinking about.
