Drumnakilly bridge work welcomed.

Mid Tyrone Sinn Féin Councillor Anne Marie Fitzgerald has welcomed the reconstruction of Drumnakilly Bridge between Carrickmore and Omagh. The bridge had been in a bad state of disrepair in recent times. According to Councillor Fitzgerald she had brought it to the attention of Roads Service on numerous occasions.

This week, as work on the bridge was coming to a conclusion, the local councillor said the project was important to ensure the bridge remains fit for purpose. Speaking Councillor Fitzgerald said:

"I welcome the reconstruction of the Drumnakilly Bridge. That particular bridge was in a poor state of disrepair for a considerable length of time now. I had brought this to the attention of Roads Service officials at a recent engagement between councilors and Road Service a few months ago. I am glad that the officials agreed with my assertion that the bridge was in need of remedial work.

"This work will ensure that the bridge remains fit for purpose. Having viewed the ongoing work to the bridge it is clear that not only is it more appealing visually but will also improve the structure and standing of the bridge.

"I would like to commend Roads Service for addressing this issue with such urgency.
